Arctic Building & Construction is not quite like everyone else. They are opposed to social dumping and have a zero vision of injuries and conflicts. The company is growing rapidly with ambitions for the future.
– As far as I know there are no companies operating as we do,» says CEO and co-owner Ragnar Reitan.
We are committed to getting good and long-term partnerships with the major contractors.
The company has its roots from the company Reinertsen Poland, which was taken over by Kaare Nordbø and changed its name to Concretum, before the Reinertsen Entreprenør was sold to Veidekke in 2015. Reitan started 1. January of this year and has, until now, had his main focus on building the new business in Norway. The company took a «restart» in Norway and the newly started company has now passed 60 employees, and the entire group has passed 200 employees.
– Now we have a business that is big enough to take the next step in the growth strategy.
We now strengthen our position and presence in Norway by strengthening the management and establishing a head office in Lørenskog, he explains.
In the long term, a role in the new «Construction City» business cluster is wanted.
In addition to companies in Norway, Poland and Iceland, start-up in Sweden is scheduled for 2019. In Poland, the company takes care of administration and recruiting. They also have a factory hall that, among other things, produces wall elements.
– If we are successful with our goals, we will be 500 employees at the end of 2020,» says Reitan.
POLISH MANPOWER
The company has workers exclusively from Poland. Co-owner Nordbø has lived 24 years in Poland and spends a lot of time recruiting, in addition to leading the business in Iceland.
– Getting the right people is key. That is Alpha and Omega, Reitan concludes.
– In Norway there is a shortage of qualified labour in many areas. We can provide resources where the main contractors do not have the inhouse capacity or want to subcontract parts of the work. We may, when needed, recruit relatively many from Poland in short time.
We highly appreciate our workers and we provide them with knowledge and prerequisites for success, and I personally meet all new employees.
The workers are thoroughly trained and well equipped for performing their jobs safe and with good quality, which Reitan sees as a competitive edge.
ZERO VISION
The company has zero vision of incidents with damage. He himself got HSE in the bones through 20 years in AF Gruppen as department director for oil and gas civil construction projects.
The company also has zero vision of conflicts.
– As subcontractor you are last chain. There are always variations in the projects and it is challenging to avoid disputes about settlement. We seek to avoid conflicts and get satisfied clients by being clear and honest on arisen variations and strive for continuous settlement of these and to find good solutions for all parties.
S P R E K encapsulates the company’s value base.
– The first four will lead to the last, which is client satisfaction. Without satisfied clients, we do not get new jobs.
S stands for Social Responsibility, P for Professional and R for Redelig (honest).
– Everything shall be neat and tidy and withstand the light of day, Reitan emphasizes.
– E stands for Enthusiastic. It mostly goes on the personality of us two owners. We go in with energy, desire and great enthusiasm. We are trying to get this to spread to our employees, clients and partners.
– WE HIGHLY APPRECIATE OUR WORKERS AND
WE PROVIDE THEM WITH KNOWLEDGE AND PREREQUISITES FOR SUCCESS,
AND I PERSONALLY MEET ALL NEW EMPLOYEES.
